Living With Intention
Fulfillment comes from being present and engaging in your life. Living intentionally can help bring you hope and satisfaction.
The power of intention comes from an authentic part of you and creates movement in your life. Since your intention comes from honesty it carries a beautiful force with it.
Your intention will only be realized once it is clearly set. This is more about where it comes from than what it is. Is it coming from inside or outside of you? You can only set an intention for something that you can control and you can only control what is going on inside of yourself. If you are setting your sights on something external it is a good time to sit down and think about how you want to feel.
If you want a car, this is something external. If you really want it to feel that it is easy to get places, this is something internal. Setting intentions based on your internal desires expands the possibilities about how they can come to you. The feeling of ease could mean that there is a new bus stop near your house, the store you need opens up in walking distance or you get a new car. Now there are three options instead of one.
Setting intentions not only affects what you want for yourself in life but also your relationship with other people.
Have you ever felt you just can’t believe someone? This feeling can come because their intention is to deceive you in some way (maybe on purpose and maybe not). If you are not intending to speak or act authentically then as a result you may be sending a message that leads people not to trust.
A small example of this saying to your family, “Okay, it’s time to go now.” but not getting up and going yourself. In this situation the intention being set is external in that you are hoping everyone else will get up and go but you are not taking the authentic action needed. This can happen for so many reasons, including just being tired, but the affect is that you are not getting what you want and the people around aren’t taking you seriously either.
The size of an intention doesn’t reflect its importance. Becoming more intentional in everything you say and do adds up to living a more authentic life. It helps you to build focus on areas that are important to you.
Once a clear intention is set then you can be sure that it will have results because it is internalized and you will begin to know what needs to happen for it to come into fruition. To set an intention all you need to do is think clearly about what you want and then ask for it. Put your stake in the ground.
If you would like to play with intention this week and see how you can make things happen in your life, start small. Begin to make note of what you want and frame it into an internal desire. Once you have practiced this step start to speak and act intentionally to get the results you want for a fulfilling life.
