Practice
Your practice requires practice. This is an enjoyable evolution of something that you have committed to.
As you practice you not only increase the benefits of the activity, you also integrate aspects of the practice in a more holistic way. This can bring you a sense of enjoyment and mastery.
I have always enjoyed many practices in my life. At varying times they have filled my being or have left me feeling zapped of energy. The difference for me was my starting point. The feeling that needed to be in place first was: knowing. Knowing that I deserved to be engaging in the practice and knowing that it was something that lined up with what I view as important in my life. Without these aspects I always felt overwhelmed and restricted by time.
There are many areas for your mind, body and spirit where you can introduce practice. As you focus on the experience you can tap into a sense of peace as you enjoy the exploration. When you stay with a practice you may notice benefits that you hadn’t even anticipated.
If you begin a practice of exercise you will increase your fitness level and you may also find it improves your mood throughout the day. If you begin a practice of acts of kindness you will open your heart and you may also find flow in other areas of your life. Take some time to look at the reasons you have for choosing your particular area of practice, this will give you the ability to commit to yourself in a consistent way.
Commitment will build your sense of internal value. Your feelings will be heightened if you can be fully present and give yourself permission to focus on yourself. You may even get a sense that you have more time to fully enjoy this activity in your life.
To become a master in your own life, reflect on practices that you feel called to pursue. These could include the way you approach meals or schedule your day, fitness or mindfulness, interests or activities. There is really no end to the possibilities.
Once you have found an area that will bring you fulfillment, begin to introduce a consistent practice. There is no need to rush it. As you build up curiosity you will feel moved to strengthen your commitment, make changes or incorporate new insights. Growth in this area comes naturally because what you focus on expands in your life.
Please feel welcome to begin a conversation or leave your observations about different practices or about living inside out.
