Judgment Is Like A Puzzle
As a life coach I have been reflecting on the term judgment.
You might think of judgment as critical thinking and value this as a higher or more intelligent way of thinking. It can be confused with being open to all sides of an argument when it is really a closed way of thinking. Being open is the knowledge that there are limitless possibilities that do not end with your thoughts but include every possible thought.
Sometimes judgment is referred to as evaluation and can be accepted for reasons of safety or to gain a more positive outcome. Even in these terms there is a sense of competition rather that cooperation and negative feelings that identify a way to deal with fears rather than a way to create expansion in life.
I invite you to look at this topic in two parts. The first is how you judge yourself and the second is how you judge others or your environment. To understand both sides of the topic it is helpful to address judgment first as it relates to you.
If you begin with the mindset that you are completely whole and have everything that you need within you, you shift your way of thinking and are tapping into being. This allows you to know that everything that you bring to the world comes from a place of being enough. There is no need to judge your thoughts or actions because they’re a part of the process rather than the means to an end.
Have you ever encouraged someone by saying that it’s okay to make a mistake? I would go even further to say that mistakes are the way we navigate life. If you are able to fully enjoy this process than there are no mistakes and judgment can fall away as each moment brings full value to you.
Once you begin to remove the judgment in your own life and see yourself and your innate value it allows you to look upon others in the same light. It is like a puzzle that is only complete when you have every piece in place. Each piece has it’s own place in the puzzle and can only work in it’s own way. Each piece is equal and necessary and you would not toss one away because it is different. There is no need to judge the individual pieces.
If you accept that there is no need for hierarchy, you are left with having what is right for you and others having what is right for them. You are able to fully embrace that what is right or true for each person is particular to them. When you are able to notice that what you bring forward into this world is completely unique then there is no need for judgment but rather exploration.
Judgment is the opposite of open awareness. Judgment is evaluating rather than sensing. This ordered type of thinking automatically denotes inequality that leaves you in struggle and struggle affects all your relationships in life.
A release of judgment will allow you to be more free and open to new ideas and open to others including their differences and ideas. It will release your limitations and allow you to think with possibilities.
You can practice freeing yourself from judgment by embracing your own self as being enough, and without any need for improvement. Become aware of the judgment you place on yourself, on what you say, on what you think, and on your actions. For the next few days try to bring all your judgments to a neutral place and imagine that everything is exactly as it should be.
Please feel welcome to begin a conversation or leave your observations about judgment or about living inside out.
